A blood test is often done to check your health, or to find out why you're having certain symptoms. It involves having a small amount of your blood taken for testing.

If your Doctor or Nurse has asked you to have a blood test, this may be carried out at the surgery or the hospital.

This is usually undertaken by the Health Visitors; however, should you have any concerns or issues, please contact either the Practice Nurse or your doctor.

When your child’s immunisations are due, you will be sent a reminder inviting you to make an appointment.

A team of district/community nurses are based in Bury St Edmunds, they work closely with the doctors of the surgery to provide the highest standard nursing care in patient’s own homes. They have a diverse role, including palliative care, general wound and leg care.

The Practice Nurses undertake many different procedures in these clinics including: dressings, suture removal, injections, childhood and traveller immunisations, ear syringing, cervical smears, family planning advice, diet and weight counselling and blood pressure checks.

Some of these procedures take longer than others; therefore it is not possible to make available these appointments on both the automated telephone booking system and also the Internet at present. Therefore, please book the appointment either in person or over the telephone with the Reception staff.

Diabetes

The surgery holds regular clinics through the week especially for diabetic patients’. The aims of our clinic are to monitor the effects of diabetes on the patient’s health; to offer support and advice to our patients’ and promote good self-care in order to prevent the complications of diabetes.

Asthma and COPD

We like to encourage people with asthma or COPD to attend our clinics at least annually. Our aim is to improve the control of the condition and improve the management of it better.

Heart Disease

We like to monitor and encourage patients’ to maintain as active and enjoyable life for as long as possible with Heart Disease. Therefore, patients will be monitored at least annually for these conditions.

Annual Checks

There are other conditions that are managed by the Practice Nursing Team and on occasions you will be asked to see one of them when previously you will have seen your doctor. Ask Reception staff for the best person to see for any annual or routine check ups

If required, these will be undertaken both by your Doctor or a Practice Nurse, please discuss this with your doctor.

This service is currently available to adults aged 18 and over who are registered with Angel Hill Surgery and are experiencing non-medical issues requiring additional support.

Anyone wishing to access our social prescribing service can complete this form, and it will be forwarded to our Social Prescribers, who will contact you to offer assistance and/or arrange an appointment.
